John Amon Tippens John Amon Tippens, 82, of Sandyville, passed away suddenly Friday morning, February 8, 2013 at his Trace Fork Home. He was born in Paden City March 4, 1930, son of the late John E. and Bessie Hoskins Tippens. John was a member of the Sandyville Church of Christ and attended the Sandyville Senior Center. He was retired from Eureka Pipeline (Pennzoil) after 40 years of service. One of the main joys in his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving: His wife of 46 years, Linda McVey Tippens; Son, John Alan Tippens of Ripley; Daughter, Carol Barr (Ricky) of Ripley; Grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob and Paige Barr; Brothers, Elmo and Jerry Tippens; Sisters, Phyllis Thomas and Rosemary Cherry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Mike" Tippens and two sisters, Betty Hayes and Ruth Ann Bentley. Funeral services are set for Monday, February 11, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Sandyville Church of Christ with Minister Sam Bartrug and his grandson, Jordan Barr, officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
