Louis "Louie" Combs

Louis (Louie) Combs Jr., 73, passed from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on December 26, 2023 at his home in Kenna, WV.

Louie was born January 14, 1950 in Romney, WV, son of the late Louis Benjamin and Hilda Rinker Combs, He was a graduate of Hampshire High School and Monroe Business College. He began his career as a retail manager working for H-P Stores. In 1982 he began working for Family Dollar Stores as a store manager and then n 1992 as a district manager until his retirement in 2011. After retirement, he worked part time for Joe Holland car transports and for PL Marketing in local Kroger Stores. Louie loved playing his guitar and singing with a bluegrass group named Jackson Grass, and later playing gospel music with the Heavenly Way Singers. Louie was a member of the Pleasant View Church on Fisher Ridge in Jackson County where he served as a Trustee for many years. On Sunday mornings you could see him in the Choir playing his guitar for as long as his health would allow him.

Louie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie; his children Sandy (Jimmy) Edwards, Nathan (Ivanova) Epling and Brian (Cynthia) Epling; his sister, Donna (Danny) Ruckman; grandchildren, Abigail Edwards, Courtney Edwards, J.R. Filio, Aidan Epling, Elizabeth Allenger, Chance Epling and Jake Epling; his mother-in-law, Nancy Roberts along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by hi parents, Louis and Hilda Combs; sister Betty Colebank and father-in-law, Jack Roberts.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor David Spencer and Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Entombment will be in the Floral Hills Garden of Memories at Pocatalico. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Louie’s memory be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The American Red Cross or The Pleasant View Church Youth Program.
