Alfreda Jean Baisden

Alfreda Jean Baisden, 88 of Sandyville passed away May 10, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 13, 1937, in Logan County, daughter of the late Arthur and Arbutis Browning Wright. Alfreda had a passion for cooking and preparing special foods for her family and school children at Gilmore Elementary School. Many of the students would see her out and reminisce about the fond memories they had and how she took such special care of them. She retired from Jackson County Schools with 29 years of service as a Cafeteria Manager. Alfreda was always active in her community and with her children including their school activities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the brightest spot in her life, she was so proud of them as she was of all of her family. She attended the Sandyville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Baisden who passed on November 23, 2025. She missed him so but the family finds comfort knowing they are now together for their 70th Anniversary on May 12. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by son Tim (Vickie) Baisden; her daughter Rhonda Baisden; grandchildren; Rocky (Emily) Baisden and Jon Baisden; great grandchildren, Alex Baisden, Isabella Baisden, Hunter Baisden and Luke Baisden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that were so special to her.

Funeral Service will be 2pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Eddie Layne officiating. Burial will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. A time of visitation with the family will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home.
