Allene Cummings

Allene Cummings, 96, of Cottageville passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at Mountain View Care Center in Ripley following an extended illness.

Allene was born April 22, 1926 at Kentuck, WV a daughter of the late Dolph and Laura Dale Gandee Skeen. Allene was the manager of several Ben Franklin stores in the area and in later years enjoyed taking bus trips with the Senior Citizens Center.

Allene is survived by her children Rita Karen Winter (Keith), Carolyn Parrish, Marilyn Clendenin, Rex Cummings (Elizabeth), Helen Sharp (Garry) and Bob Cummings; grandchildren Keith “Brent” Winter, Beth Salvosa, Michelle Lucas, Kim Richardson, Carrie Ann Sheets, Allen Cummings, Christopher Cummings, Taylor Cummings and Wendy Smith. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents Allene was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Herman Cummings, 12 brothers and sisters and a daughter, Betty Jean Balliett.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Fairplain Cemetery. Online memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.waybrightfuneralhome.com
