Alva L. Barnette

Alva L. Barnette, 78, of Given passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Eldercare Health and Rehab in Ripley. He was born January 6, 1940 at Rock Castle, a son of the late Alva “Case” Phillip and Aulene Marie Boswell Barnette. Alva enjoyed the farm and all his toys he got to play with on it. He also liked to attend estate sales, yard sales, and go to the livestock market. He is survived by his children Jeffrey Barnette (Lisa) of Morgantown, Lisa Swann (Joe) of North Carolina, and Lori Barnette of Morgantown; Brother Gerald Edison Barnette (Mary Anne) of Ripley; Sisters Patsy Harrison (Larry) of St. Albans, Janet Jordan (John) of Parkersburg, and Sally Antal of Ripley; Grandchildren Zack Barnette of Morgantown, Dean Robinson of Parkersburg, Tyler Barnett of Morgantown, Aaron Barnette of Fairmont, Stephanie Swann of Asheville, NC, and Joey Swann of Asheville, NC. Great-grandchildren Aaliyah and Lilianna Barnette. In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by brothers Carroll and Darrell Barnette. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3rd at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Michael Hager officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
