Alvin W. Thomas

Alvin Wayne Thomas, 83 of Gay, passed away November 18, 2017 at his home following a long illness. He was born November 19, 1933 at Leon, WV, a son of the late Albert and Lena Sines Thomas. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways with 30 years of service. Alvin was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and hunting ginseng. He loved going to yard sales, flea markets and auctions. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doreen Parson Thomas; sons Allen Thomas and his wife Shupaula; daughter Cheryl Judge and her husband Tom; grandchildren T.J. Thomas and his fiancée Brittany, John Michael Thomas and his wife Brittany, Leanne Jones and fiancée Dwayne and Tommy Judge and wife Jessica; Special nephew whom was like a brother, Bill Stephens; he is also survived by six great grandsons and three great granddaughters. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with John Gunther officiating. Entombment will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville. Friends may call from 12 Noon until the time of service (2:00 pm) on Wednesday at the funeral home.
