Amos Russell Totten, 72, of Washington, WV, passed away Sunday evening, July 27, 2014 at Camden Clark Medical Center following a sudden illness. Amos was born December 8, 1941, son of the late John L. and Cora Graley Totten, at Wharton in Boone County. He was a mechanic and inventor and patented shipping methods that benefited his employers and are still in use today. He worked in the interstate highway system as it was built through West Virginia and retired from Isotech Corporation. Amos was a lifelong Christian and formerly attended the New England Baptist Church in Wood County. In addition to working to feed his family, Amos was a passionate volunteer in emergency services in Wood County. He was the oldest living member of the Washington Bottom Fire Department and a former member of the Blennerhassett Volunteer Fire Department. He was Deputy Director of Wood County Emergency Services for several years and was a paramedic. Amos formerly belonged to the Washington Bottom Lion's Club and was an organizer of the Honey Festival, which continues to this day. Surviving: Wife, Judith Bibbee Totten; Son, Russell "Scott" Totten of Washington WV; Daughters; Beverly Baker (Jim) of Meridian, Mississippi and their children James Russell Baker (Angela) and Cora Dellinger (Ben), and Amy Armstron (Jeff) of Industry, WV and their daughter Victoria; Great-grandchildren, Aurora Baker, Wesley Baker and Shaelinn Dellinger; Brother, William "Jack" Totten (Judy). In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. A graveside service for Amos Totten will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Emma Chapel Cemetery at Liberty in Putnam County with Pastor Kenny Markham officiating. Interment will immeately follow the service. Friends may call at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley Monday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. An informal celebration of the life of Amos Totten will be held at 7:30 p.m. with Gary Bibbee officiating.
