Anita Parrish Kerns Evans, 102, formerly of Ripley, WV departed this life to be with her Lord on November 21, 2015 at Ravenswood Village. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers. She was born September 30, 1913 in the community of Joe's Run, WV to the late William and Sarah Parrish. From there, she moved to the community of Gay, WV where she raised her family. During her lifetime, she was employed at the Parkersburg Viscose Plant, worked as a housekeeper, and was a homemaker. Throughout the years, Anita delighted in preparing delicious meals which were enjoyed by her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her beautiful flower beds and vegetable gardens, canning vegetables, and quilting. She gifted many lovely hand sewn quilts to her children. She also enjoyed watching and appreciating the various birds that visited her feeder. Anita was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Evans; brothers Edgar, Kenneth, Geerie, and Robert Parrish; children Betty Lou, Frederick, Donald, and Darrell Kerns; grandsons Richard Skinner and J.D. Kerns; and grandson-in-law Chuck Raines. Survivors include her children Keith(Patsy) Kerns of Ripley, WV; Debbie(Dave) Wilson of Lancaster, OH; Jack(Sharon) Kerns of Greenville, OH; Dorma(Howard) Skinner of Ripley, WV; Linda(John) Jones of Lancaster, OH; and Kathy (Cary) Owens of Petersburg, WV; daughter-in-law Shirley Kerns of Akron, OH; stepchildren Oren Earl(Catherine) Evans of Point Pleasant, NJ; Joe Ann(Bud) Wolman of Columbus, OH; Gerald(Shirley) Evans of Parkersburg, WV; Sue Fugate of Columbus, OH; and 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff members at Ravenswood Village for the care, love, and kindness shown to Anita during her time there. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Interment will follow at the Parsons Cemetery at Gay, WV.
