Anita Sue Hughes

Anita Sue Hughes, 72, of Ripley went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2026, while surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 7, 1953, to the late Bona Nutter and Dorothy Dotson.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Clarence Hughes; son, James Hughes(Jenny) and their children, Jesse Hughes, Walker Hughes, Conner Hughes, and Ashton Hughes; son, William Hughes(Robin), and their children Jessica Hughes and Isabella Hughes; daughter, Cindy Baldwin(Carl) and their children Stephanie Baldwin and Sarah May; daughter, Dawn Davis and her children, Cory Baker, Travis Baker, and Ethan Davis; daughter, Shelly Steele(Dwaine) and their children, Jake Stanley, Natasha Stanley, Nora Stanley, and Jonathan Stanley; and daughter, Nora Smith(Jeff) and their children, Austin Steele and Abby Steele; brother, Bobby Nutter; sisters, Brenda Fisher, Patsy Caltrider, and Billie Carte; 28 great-grandchildren; and her furry companion, Bebe.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death are her sons, Bo Hughes and Brad Hughes; and grandson, Zachary Stanley.

Anita will be remembered for her kind soul. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed spending time with her family and catching up over the phone.

There will be a funeral service held at 2p.m on August 29, 2026 at Waybright Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12p.m. until the time of the service and burial will follow in the Pine Hill cemetery.
