Archie Lee Howery

Archie Howery, 85 of Ripley, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 5, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House following a long illness. He was born April 1, 1931 at Chesapeake, WV, a son of the late Fletcher and Delcie Cooper Howery. He attended East Bank High School and retired from Ravenswood Aluminum with 34 years of service and was a member of the USWA Local 5668. Archie was a Christian and loved studying the Bible. He enjoyed sports and loved to follow his children and grandchildren while they participated in a variety of sports. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Massey Howery; four sons, Ken (Phyllis) Howery of Evans, Gene Howery of Ripley, Jerry (Angie) Howery of Ripley and Deron (Sandra) Howery of Ripley; sister Georgia McCoy of Culloden, WV; grandchildren, Brian and Matt Howery, Stacy Moore, Alex Howery, Amanda Ashby, Nick Howery, Dustin Howery, Victoria Howery, Jackie Fitzpatrick and Kylee Bryant; great grandchildren Zakkary, Roslyn, Bailey, Delaney, Addison, Jackson, Colt, Braxton, and a baby girl on the way, Carter, Alea, Kassidy, Kelci, Alaina, Kaiden, Asher and August. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Kellis, Don, Jack and Ashby and sisters Margaret and Doris. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Steve Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call on the family on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hubbard Hospice House and The Ravenswood Care Center for the care and support given to Archie and the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Cancer Society, the Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Association.
