Arthur Carroll Fisher, 96, of Sissonville, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at his home, with his family by his side.
Arthur was born on December 2, 1929, at Liberty, WV, a son of the late Elbie Gilbert and Barcie Mae (Bailey) Fisher. Arthur was an educator with 30 plus years of service as a teacher and principal. He was the first appointed principal of Flinn Elementary School in Sissonville. He was also very active in his community serving on the Emma Chapel Cemetery Association Board and past-president of the Kanawha County Elementary Principal’s Association. He was honored by the Sissonville Public Library who established the Arthur C. Fisher Reading Award, an award given annually to a local elementary age student who shows excellence in reading. Arthur was also a member of the Sissonville Lions Club and Ripley Masonic Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M. In his free time, Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leona (Good) Fisher; son Thomas Arthur Fisher and grandchildren Michael Walker and Connie Berry.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Karen Price (Terry), Debbie Walker (Mike), and Connie Garnes; grandchildren Tonya Criser (Brent), Jason Fisher (Sarah), Kristie Starr, John Price, Ashley Price, Keri Walker, Nathan Garnes (Renae), and Lindsay Walker (Adam); great-grandchildren Audra Price, Austyn Price, Carly Hatfield (Ethan), Adam Criser, Jayna Criser, Shelby Criser, Ben Walker, Branson Walker, Sophia Pomeroy, Sawyer Pomeroy, Shane Walker, Jocleyn Berry, Cody Fisher, Thomas Fisher, Aiden Painter, Peyton Painter and; great-great-grandchild Luke Hatfield; siblings Gilbert Fisher and Velda Garnes and special friend, Gary Jones. He is also survived by a host of friends and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Kanawha Hospice, as well as nurse Scott Casdorph for their care and compassion showed to Arthur and his family.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 9th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor George Webb officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Sissonville Public Library, HospiceCare or the Sissonville Lions Club.
