Belva Eurada Skeen, 88 of Ripley, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 at Camden Clark Medical Center. Eurada was born August 11, 1933 at Belgrove, Jackson County, a daughter of the late Amos and Edith Stalnaker Westfall. In addition to her parents Eurada was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Glenn Skeen and a son, Anthony “Butch” Skeen. Eurada was a loving and generous person. She enjoyed singing gospel with her friends and siblings, playing Uno and dominoes, and cooking. Her biscuits were unbeatable and her applesauce stack cakes were unforgettable. She never went to medical school but was always ready to consult, advise and prescribe. She cured many a skinned knee with her root beer floats. Her family liked to tell each other, “You’d better see Dr. Mamaw about that!” Back in her earlier days, Eurada worked for several years at the Ripley Western Auto Store and later as a baker at Eldercare Nursing Home, also in Ripley. She kept a clean house and a full kitchen. Her heart was just like her home-always open and warm. Eurada is survived by her son, Michael; brother Glenn (Brenda) Westfall; sister Veneda (Richard) Hoover; grandsons Stephen (Rosemary) of Falmouth, KY and Joseph (Julia) of Florence, KY and granddaughter Anna (Travis) of Walton, KY; great-granddaughters Briana and Charlice and great- grandsons Noah and Elijah. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Danny Cummings officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.waybrightfuneralhome.com
