Bernard H. Offutt, 82, of Sandyville went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2015. He was born September 19, 1932 in Millstone, WV, a son of the late Ollie and Ruth Garrett Offutt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Glennis Simmons of Canton, OH and brother Ollie Offutt Jr. of Parkersburg. Bernard proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. and would later retire from Ravenswood Aluminum after 37 years. He was a member of the Sandyville United Methodist Church and had a deep passion for his Lord and Church. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and beekeeping. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel Marie Offutt; son Gregory (Kathy) Offutt of Sandyville and daughter Deborah (Jennings) Lipscomb of Sandyville; grandchildren Heather (Stephen) Shedd of Parkersbug, Stephen (Charlene) Offutt of Sandyville, Justin (Whitney) Offutt of Ravenswood, Jennifer Lipscomb of Sandyville, Jeremy Lipscomb of Parkersburg; great-grandchildren Stephanie Shedd, Olivia Shedd, Lucas Lipscomb, Jessica Lipscomb, Tyler Shedd, Parker Offutt, Riley Vance, Ryan Vance, Bailey McClintic, Caden Lipscomb, and Kamryn and Nicholas Offutt. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Sandyville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jarrod Caltrider officiating. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 107, Ripley will be in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
