Bernita K. Epling

Bernita Kay Epling, 77, of Ripley passed away Monday, April 20, 2026 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

Bernita was born November 5, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of the late Bernard and Susie Kathleen (Bland) Knott.

Bernita was a guidance counselor for Jackson County Schools for many years, mostly serving at Ripley Middle School. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time in her garden.

Bernita is survived by her daughters, Laura Mount and Rebekah Epling; brother Stephen Knotts; sisters Karla Upton and Karen Fillingame and 2 grandsons Walker and Wyatt Mount.

In addition to her parents, Bernita was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gary L. Epling.
