Betty Williams Balis passed away peacefully in her home on December 17, 2024 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by family and close friends.
Known for her bubbly personality and passion to help others in need, Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Betty’s family asks that she be remembered for the joyous moments she brought to others in life, not in the sadness of her passing.
Betty was born in Kenna, West Virginia on April 17, 1950 to the late Russell and Dollie (Anderson) Williams. Her childhood spent in West Virginia instilled a lifelong passion for farming, gardening and a love for horses. Later in life she moved to Ohio and went on to work as a custodian for the Orrville City Schools with 29 years of service at the time of her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Balis (Matthew Gatti); son Tim Balis; granddaughter Haley Gatti and grandson Jackson Gatti who will all continue to honor her legacy by living life to the fullest. In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Becky Balis.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 21st at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Raines Cemetery, Kenna. A celebration of life ceremony will be held on January 25th in Ohio, location will be announced at a later date.
