Betty Lou Carney

Betty Lou Carney, 85, of Given passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Arbors of Gallipolis following an extended illness.

Betty was born December 3, 1936 at Given a daughter of the late Jesse and Linnie Hill Carney. In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by brothers Basil, Darrell, Harold and Delano “R.D” Carney and sisters Blondena Carney, Velmada Carney Williams, Mary Jane Barnette and Willa Jean Holderman.

She is survived by a brother Willard Carney as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Betty left Jim Ridge at a young age to move to Charleston and began working for Columbia Gas. She then worked as a Traffic Manager for McJunkin Corporation for many years until retirement. Following her retirement, she moved back to her beloved Jim Ridge where she enjoyed quilting and painting. She also enjoyed being outside planting flowers or working in her garden.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Moss Chapel Cemetery in Given. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice staff for their care and compassion showed to Betty in her final days.
