Betty "Betsy" Elaine Conrad Staats, 39, of Odaville, received her permanent set of angel wings on February 2, 2013. Betsy passed away at CAMC, General Division, Charleston, WV. Betsy was born in Ripley, Jackson County on July 15, 1973, to Charles and Paulette Westfall Conrad. Betsy married her best friend and soul mate, Terry Lee Staats, in the Drift Run Church in Sandyville on October 24, 1992. Terry and Betsy were inseparable and a match made in heaven, even sharing the same birthdate. Anyone who met Betsy knew instantly she loved life. Always giving you her biggest smile and letting you share in her contagious laughter. Betsy was a loving wife, daughter, sister and friend. It will be hard to think of Betsy and not shed a tear as she departed this life at such an early age. But knowing Betsy, she would want you to remember the good times and know that she will always have her protective angel wings around her family and friends and especially around her husband to keep him warm at night. Betsy graduated from Ripley High School in 1991. She was employed by City Insurance, Ripley branch, as an Insurance Agent. She was a member of the Ripley Lions Club, acting as Treasurer. Betsy enjoyed everything from NASCAR, traveling, collecting Longaberger baskets, learning to quilt and watching her brother Vince race cars, being his biggest fan. Betsy's most loved hobby as Sadie, who was more like her child then her dog. Betsy, be sure to give her tail a tug for Terry will ya! Betsy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Benjamin and Betty McCullough Conrad and Harry and Gladys Garrett Westfall. She is survived by her husband, Terry Lee Staats of Odaville; parents, Charles and Paulette Westfall Conrad of Ripley; sister, Debbra Conrad Jones and husband Tracy of Sandyville; brother, Charles Vincent Conrad and fiancee' Megan Fields of Ripley; father and mother-in-law, Jimmie and Sharon Pickens Staats of Odaville; sister-in-law, Tereasa Staats Yates and husband Jerry of Sissonville. She is also survived by some very special friends, Kevin and Kelly Burgess, Andy Rake and Tammy Gorrell, among a host of others. Although Terry and Betsy never had children of their own, they have three very special little ones in their lives whom they loved as their own. Hanah, Jenna and Sawyer Burgess, our prayers are out to you for the loss of your Aunt Betsy, but she will always be with you.
