Betty Irene Fox

Betty Irene Fox (Raines), 94, of Ripley entered into Heaven’s gates on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Ravenswood Village.

Betty was born May 19, 1931 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Enid (Bailey) Greathouse.

Betty’s biggest joy was lifting her voice in song for her Lord. She was an amazing cook with everyone’s favorite being her prize winning biscuits. She always made sure her family was taken care and ensured there was always a house full of love. Betty’s other interests included embroidery work, cross stitching and in recent year completed many adult coloring books.

Betty is survived by her sons Bernard Allen Fox (Patty), Michael Wayne Fox (Susanne) and Charles Daniel “Danny” Fox; daughters Patricia “Trish” Ann (Bowen) Chapman (Bill), Betty Jo Lemon, Sharon Lynn Jones (John B.), Shelia Bowen (David), Joyce Barker (Brian), Pamela Davis (Kevin), Rebecca “Becky” Casto (Craig) and April Racy (Bob); sisters Janive Carpenter, Annabelle Starcher, Peggy Brown, Willa June Athey and Karen Sue Duckworth. She is also survived by 57 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren as well as host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Fox; husband Daris Raines; an infant child; sons Roger Carl Fox, Roy Fox Jr. and Brady Eugene Fox; brothers Leon Greathouse, Lonnie Greathouse and Leroy Greathouse and sons-in-law Tom Bowen, Alan Lemon and Timothy Bowman.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ravenswood Village and Kanawha Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Betty as well as her family.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 18th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Jeff Keffer officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Roane County.
