Betty Lou Casto

Betty Lou (McCarty) Casto, 76 of Ripley, passed away May 18, 2018 at Charleston General Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born August 17, 1941 in Mason County, a daughter of the late Leonard Fillmore and Rhoella Mae VanMeter McCarty. She was a well-known Beautician of 42 years, having worked in New Haven and Jo Ellen’s Salon in Ripley before operating her own Salon in her home for many years. She attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley where she participated in Circle Groups and helped in the Jr. Fair Kitchen. Betty was a giving person whom in death gave the gift of life by being an Organ Donor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Daniel Glen Casto, and a brother, Earl Ray McCarty. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Stephanie Casto of Ripley; brother Leonard McCarty and wife Connie of Mason County; sisters Mary Pullins and husband Dennis of Bluefield, WV and Barbara Scarberry and husband Larry of Pt. Pleasant; sister-in-law Mildred McCarty along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Charles Hicks officiating. Friends may call on the family from noon until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
