Betty Ruth Hinzman Betty Ruth Hinzman, 81, of Kenna, passed away Friday afternoon, May 24, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg following an extended illness. She was born on February 15, 1932 in South Charleston WV, daughter of the late Sinclair and Jinia McGuire Larch. Betty was a Christian and attended Warren Chapel Church at Kenna prior to declining health. As a young teenager Betty worked alongside her mother at the Naval Ordinance Plant in South Charleston as a welder. Even into her later years she could accurately recite the number of welding rods and passes needed to join steel armor based on the length of the weld and alloy of the metal. Betty became a nurse and embarked on a lifelong career that began at Thomas Memorial Hospital and concluded with her retirement from Jackson General Hospital. She was known as a kind but no nonsense nurse who gained the respect of patients and staff alike. In her retirement years she enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and any activity that resulted in something being made or created. Surviving: Her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Breslin of Ripley; Step-daughters, Marsha and Sherry Breslin; Step-sons, Bernard, Gary, Bobby and Sonny Fisher, all of Jackson County; Sister-in-law, Garnet Larch of St. Albans; Four grandchildren. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Waybright Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Fields officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairplain Cemetery.
