Billy Gene Raines, 87 of Ripley, passed away suddenly on December 29, 2025 at his home.
Bill was born July 31, 1938 at Statts Mill, WV, son of the late Eldie and Bertha Williams Raines. He was a 1957 graduate of Ripley High School and served his country in the United States Army. Bill was a man of many talents and could build almost anything and always stayed busy. He enjoyed farming and retired from Century Aluminum where he was a Pipefitter by trade. He also enjoyed teaching in the Apprenticeship Program for Millwrights.
He was a Christian and member of the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church where he enjoyed helping with projects around the church facilities and with Mission Projects locally or other parts of the country.
Bill and his wife Pat, following retirement, enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida until health issues wouldn’t allow them to travel there. Family and friends meant the world to Bill, and he always enjoyed getting together with former co-workers for dinners and a time to catch up with each other.
He is survived by his wife, Pat White Raines; son, Kenny (Veronica) Raines; daughters, Stacy (Happy Joe) Parsons and Ginger (Steve) Mullins; sisters, Joyce (Lowell) Gill, Linda Sharon (William) Parslow and Kathy (Thomas) Kugel; grandchildren, Luke (Taylor) Parsons, Jared (Emily) Parsons, Seth (Samantha) Parsons, Derek (Courtney) Mullins, Jillian (Michael) Oldham, Joseph (Amy) Shaver, Jonathan (Madison) Raines, Adam Raines, Daniel Raines, James Mounie, David Mounie, Joseph (Tatianna) Mounie, Steven (Leanna) Mounie; great grandchildren, Landon, Lily, Willa, Knox, Crew, Emmy, Jared II, Lucas, Eli, Cooper, Dawson, Rileigh, Dakota, Joseph, Juliana, Anaiya and Vincent.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Andy Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, with military rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until the time of Service on Saturday at the funeral home.
