Bobby Thaxton

Bobby Thaxton, 84 of Ripley passed away on July 10, 2024.

He was born June 30, 1940 in Sissonville, son of the late James Thaxton and Ada Hammonds. Bobby worked in construction for many years and was known as a “Jack of all Trades”. He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his outgoing personality. He also enjoyed watching football, playing pool, and cracking open a cold beer. He is survived by his daughter Carrie (Sean) Ray; grandchildren Kellan, Dalton, and Declan; a brother, Norman Thaxton; and Carrie’s beloved mother, Ann Thaxton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers; Charlie, Dale, and Steve Thaxton.

A service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with burial following in the Floral Hills cemetery in Sissonville. A time of visitation with the family will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Per Bobby’s wishes, please wear casual attire and feel free to join the family at Fairplain Yacht Club directly following the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to either Kanawha Hospice or American Legion Post #107.
