Brenda Joyce Elliott

Brenda Joyce Elliott (Stanley), 75 of Ripley, passed away October 25, 2019 peacefully in her home after a short illness. She was surrounded by family to her very last breath. Brenda was born March 2, 1944 in Dunbar, West Virginia, daughter of the late Miles Stanley and Romaleda (Smith) Stanley. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Lively, brother in law, Alan Lively, father in law Howard Elliott, and mother in law Aleyne Elliott (Stalnaker). She was a graduate of Dunbar High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Marshall University. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Genealogy Society and GFWC Juniors. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She retired from West Virginia University in Parkersburg and cared for her mother until she became ill. Survivors include her devoted husband of 52 years Stanley Elliott, mother Romaleda Stanley, sister Pennie (Bob) Ritenour, son Michael Elliott, daughter April (Jay) Wilcox, grandchildren Victoria Wilcox, Colby Wilcox, Madison Elliott and Jacob Elliott and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday November 2, 2019 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley WV, with Reverend Charles Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott Cemetery, Ripley WV. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to Calvary United Methodist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Kanawha County.
