Brenda Joyce Ray Nafeh, a beloved member of our community, passed away on May 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and compassion. Born on October 1, 1945, daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Thelma Scarberry Ray, Brenda's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, education, and her enduring love for her late husband, Tasir H. Nayfeh. Brenda was predeceased by her brothers Golden Ray, Okey Ray, and Oral Ray, as well as her sisters Freda Mae Black, Mary Lou White, and Gladys E. Ray-Thomas. Despite these profound losses, Brenda remained a pillar of strength and support for her surviving family members, including her brothers Roy Gail "Pete" Ray and Chester Olen Ray. She is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, along with a multitude of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews who were blessed by her generous spirit and affectionate nature. Brenda's commitment to education was evident in her academic achievements. She earned her bachelor's degree from Radford University and went on to complete her master's degree at Virginia Technical University. Her dedication to learning and personal growth served as an inspiration to her family and students alike, fostering a love of knowledge and curiosity in all who knew her. A devoted wife, Brenda shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Tasir H. Nafeh. Their union was a testament to the power of love and partnership, and Brenda now joins Tasir in eternal rest. Services to honor Brenda's life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, May 16,, 2024 at Waybright Funeral Home, located at 511 Church St S, Ripley, WV. A viewing will begin at 10:00 am Thursday followed by the funeral service. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Brenda's remarkable life, share memories, and offer comfort to one another during this time of mourning.
