Buddy Ray Haas, Sr., 72, of Ripley passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born April 16, 1944 in Charleston a son of the late Clarence Leonard and Ruby Mae Akers Haas. Buddy worked in the construction industry and retired from Rover Construction. He enjoyed stock car racing, woodworking, and camping. More than anything he loved just being outdoors In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Shirley Jean Haas. He is survived by his son Buddy Ray Haas, Jr. (Kimberly) of Sissonville; Grandsons who he raised as sons Allen Ray Lynch (Angie) of Cross Lanes and Wesley Wayne Lynch (Melinda) of Sissonville; Daughters Penny Haynes (Charles) of Liberty, Robin Crum (William) of Inez, KY, and Dolly Hedrick (Fred) of Largo, FL; Brother Clarence William Haas (Sue) of Vinton, VA; 17 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Angel and special friend Kathy Tucker. Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Dana Reed officiating. Friends may call on the family Thursday evening at the funeral home from 5- 8 p.m. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, 1313 Hillview Dr., Dunbar, WV 25064.
