Carroll E. Coon

Carroll E. Coon, 87, of Ripley, WV passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 19, 1933 to the late M.R. (Nick) & Corda Rhodes Coon. He was preceded in death by his beloved Goldie of 32 years; daughter Margaret Dotson; grandson Donnie Garnes; brothers Darrell, Charles and Joe Coon; sisters Irene, Kathleen and Olive and a stepdaughter, Patricia Sargent. He is survived by daughter Debbie (Gene) Board, stepdaughter Chris (Rick) Coon and Diane Shamblin; stepsons Melvin Casto, Mike (Donna) Shamblin and Gene (Melinda) Shamblin; granddaughter Kara Board; grandson Todd Knopp; great-grandchildren Jeremy Knopp, Casey Cunningham, Imogene Garnes, Madalynn Coon and Annie Garnes; great-great-grandchildren Montana Skylar and John Paul Cunningham IV; sisters Mary (Fred) Nutter, Maxine Braley; son-in-law, Bruce Dotson and He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Carrol retired after 42 years from the IBEW Electric Union. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 17th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Elmer Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Casto Cemetery, Ripley. Flowers are acceptable but donations are preferred to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 86 County Farm Rd., Cottageville, WV 25239.
