Cecil "Clyde" Peters, 104, of Ripley went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Clyde was born December 14, 1920 in Eunice, WV, a son of the late Cecil and Ina Mae (Curry) Peters.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife June Peters; brothers Glenn Peters, Lawrence Peters, Leonard Peters (Sarah), Norman Peters (Kay), and Dean Peters; sisters Helen Elkins (Robert), Phyllis Turley (Don), and Blanch Mackey (Freddie); and brother-in-law’s Pat Goodwin (Louise), Jack Hurley (Jean).
Clyde is survived by his daughter Judy Peters and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Clyde was a Veteran who served in the Navy for World War II and held great pride in honoring his country. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, gathering with family and friends for meals, and especially supporting the Kansas City Chiefs and WVU. He was a die-hard Mountaineer fan and football will not be the same without him. He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his faith and missed dearly by his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Calvary United Methodist’s food pantry, Hubbard House Hospice, any location to support Veteran Affairs, or any of the backpack ministries to provide children with essentials.
In honoring Clyde’s wishes, he will be cremated with a graveside service held at Jackson County Memory Gardens on Tuesday, July 15th at 11a.m. Online memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.waybrightfuneralhome.com
