Charles Everett Dillon 92 of Ripley passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Ravenswood Village Nursing and Rehabilitation following a long illness. He was born September 23, 1920 at Sandyville the son of the late Charles Homer and Cora Hertje Dillon. He served in the United States Army in World War II and retired from his military career in 1980 with 38 years of service from the 812th Ordinance Company. Charlie also retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 25 years of service in 1983. He was a member for over 50 years in the Ripley Masonic Lodge # 16 and was a member of the Parchment Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 38 years and 9 months, Helen Dillon of Ripley; a daughter Beverly Sue Dillon of Fairplain; step daughters Terry (Jim) Faunce of Townville, PA and Susan (Kevin) Detwiler of Waxhaw, NC; step son Rick (Bev) Winter of Stuarts Draft, VA; grandson Larry "J.R." Parsons Jr; step grandchildren Travis (Robin) Hathaway, Howard Faunce, Nicholas Welch, Trent Welch, Logan Detwiler, Peyton Detwiler, Morgan Detwiler, Missy Kaster and Ginny Faunce; great grandchildren Dylan Parsons and Ryley Parsons; step great grandchildren Stephanie Hathaway, Broc Faunce, Howard Faunce Jr., Zade Faunce, Dayton Kaster, Savannah Kaster, Raelynn Scott and Emily Shinn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Kathleen Dillon, a daughter Reta Gale Parsons and her husband Larry E. Parsons. Funeral Service will be 11 am Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Herman P. Robinson officiating. Burial with military rites provided by American Legion Post 107, Ripley, will be in the Fairplain Cemetery near Ripley. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
