Charles "Pete" Jordan

Charles Hamon "Pete" Jordan 75 of Evans went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2014 at Abbyshire Place, Bidwell, Ohio surrounded by his family following a long illness. Pete was born on July 19, 1938 at Ripley, a son of the late George and Hattie Hamon Jordan. He graduated from Ripley High School with the Class of 1956. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 25 years of service where he worked in Accounting and Human Relations. Pete lived by his Christian Faith and was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. He loved sports and coached youth football, wrestling and baseball. He was the manager of the 1977 15 year old West Virginia Babe Ruth State Champions from Ripley and led them to the National District Level in Detroit. He was a Past President of the Ripley High Athletic Boosters and was instrumental in helping to make that Organization strong and provide athletic fields which are a source of pride for the community of Ripley. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Janet Stobart Jordan; son Chuck Jordan of St Augustine, FL and Steve Jordan of Orlando, FL; a daughter Rhea Todd of Brentwood, TN; his grandchildren Peter Jordan, Shelby Todd, Lindsey Todd and Jack Todd, Steven Jordan, Charlie Jordan and Bruce Jordan; brothers William O. Jordan of Charleston, John Jordan of Phoenix and Paul Jordan of Corpus Christi, TX. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys and daughter Angela and brothers George Jordan Jr. and Ed Jordan. Funeral Service will be 11 am Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Reverend Charles Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Pete may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley.
