Charles "Dick" Landfried

Charles Richard "Dick" Landfried, 77 of Lewisburg, formerly of passed away April 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born July 20, 1936 at Ripley a son of Garnet Hamon Landfried of Ripley and the late George "Bus" Landfried. He was a Presbyterian by faith. He was a 1954 graduate of Ripley High School and Studied Electrical Engineering at RETS. Following his advanced studies he opened City Electronics in Ripley, later accepting a position with Union Carbide and then became owner and president of William B. Johnson Company. While he was an electrical Engineer with Union Carbide he began working in the field of Nuclear Engineering and became a Pioneer in developing equipment that measured and monitored radiation for the company. He sat on Federal advisory boards that set standards in the Nuclear Engineering Fields. In addition to his mother, Garnet Landfried, he is survived by his wife of 57 years Linda Perry Landfried; son Joseph Landfried and his wife Marisha of Crawley, WV; daughter Libbie Landfried Geary and her husband Lou of Roxboro, NC; brother George Phillip "Butch" Landfried of Manassas, VA; five grandsons, Sam Geary, Mack Geary, Jacob Geary, Colton Landfried and Addison Landfried. Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Terri Deane officiating. Entombment will be in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Friend may call from noon until time of service (2 pm) at the funeral home.
