Charles (Charlie) Walter McClain, 79, passed away March 29, 2022 in Houston, TX following a brief illness. He went to his Savior while surrounded by his family. Charles was born on November 26, 1942, in Ripley, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Eloise McClain, his only brother, Curtis McClain and his twin grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlene McClain; daughters Lisa McClain of Houston, TX and Missy (Andy) Haston of Hurricane, WV. In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by granddaughters Casey (Brad) Camp of Tampa, FL and Erin Roberts of Hurricane, WV. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Gavin and Addison Camp. Charles graduated from Ripley High School in 1961 and after graduation worked several different jobs before his career at Constellium. He retired after almost 30 years of service as a foreman. Charles was a lifelong member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. In addition to his love of family and church, he had a love of horses and the outdoors. He served as ringmaster of the Rackers and Breeders Association of Decatur, AL for several years. Charles will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family as well as his church and his willingness to help those in need. A funeral service to celebrate Charles’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 4th at Waybright Funeral Home with Pastors Lymon Anderson and Ray Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Charles will be laid to rest beside his parents in the Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville. Following the graveside committal there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Parsons-Vail Center located inside the funeral home.
