Charles A. Rutter

Charles Abner Rutter, 81 of Gay passed away January 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington following a long illness. He was born November 24, 1934 at Appalachia, VA, a son of the late Luther and Sally Kate Barker Rutter. He was an Airforce Veteran and while in the Airforce worked as a Crash-Rescue Firefighter. Following his time in the service he was a Butcher for 25 years and retired from the Boilermakers. He was a member of the Salt Hill Church in Ripley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Delores June Rutter; a son Charles A. Rutter Jr.; brothers Luther Lee Rutter, William "Bill" Rutter, Ronald Rutter and Donald Rutter; sister Ruth Dillon. He is survived by his sons Gene Beaver (Joann) of Ravenswood, Wayne Beaver (Pam) of Charleston and Matt Rutter (Diana) of Gay; Daughters, Tammy Parsons (Joe) of Kenna and Laurie Walker (John) of Bluffton, Ohio and Rose Rutter of Gay; sisters Mary Magdalene Love of Kingsport, TN, Margaret Quasada of Orlando, FL, Alice Duncan of Kingsport, TN and Ivajean Parkerson of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren Jennifer Tolley of Ripley, Wendy Beaver of Parkersburg, Brian Collins of Ripley, James Rutter of Gay, Adam Rutter of Ripley, Alexis Rutter of Gay, Cory Parsons of Ravenswood, Jed Walker of Bluffton, OH, Clint Walker of Columbus and Ella Lehman of Pandora, OH; great grandchildren Dustin Tolley of Ripley, Elaika Beaver of Parkersburg, Bryson Collins of Kenna, Haiden Rutter of Dunbar, Nadalee Sparks of Gay, Lylian Rutter of Gay and Daisy Lehman of Pandora, OH. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor David Fields officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 9 pm at the funeral home. Following the funeral service on Tuesday the family will be hosting a reception in the Parsons- Vail Family Center located inside the funeral home. Afterwards, a procession will leave for the Parsons Cemetery, Gay where burial with Military Rites will be provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
