Cheryl Lynn Parsons

Cheryl Lynn (Gentry) Parsons, 78, of Ripley passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at her home.

Cheryl was born January 24, 1947 at Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Robert Ray and Glendall (Goodall) Gentry.

Cheryl was a school teacher who taught at Ripley Elementary, Fairplain Elementary and Spring Hill Elementary Schools and retired after 35 years of service. During the summers she would open her home and farm to many area children for her Pioneer School and taught many skills of days past. She also enjoyed gardening, farming, crafts and cooking. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent many days watching her children and grandchildren in all their sports and activities. She was also a faithful and active member of the Ripley Baptist Temple.

Cheryl is survived by children Bobby Parsons, John Parsons (Chris), Daniel Parsons, Amber Bays (Todd) and Matt Parsons (Jennifer); brother Robert Gentry and Grandchildren Isaac Bays, Madison Parsons and Caleb Parsons.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Robert L. “Bob” Parsons; step-daughter Susan Parsons; son Ben Parsons; brother Rick Gentry and a sister, Martha Gentry.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastors Grant Garber and Rick Perrine officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Parsons Family Cemetery.
