Cletis Wayne Sayre ll,63, of Evans, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. Born on September 11, 1961, in Ripley, he was a proud lifelong West Virginian and graduate of Ripley High School Class of 1979 whose heart was always with his family and community.


Wayne dedicated many years of his life working as a coal miner-a job that reflected his strong work ethic, resilience, and commitment to providing for those he loved. He was known for his generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and found great joy in being there for others.


Above all, Wayne was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie(Parsons) Sayre; his children, Michael Sayre(wife Brittney) and Michelle Knight(husband Nathan); and his cherished grandchildren, Brooklynn, Cameron, and Dylan Sayre, and Abigail Knight, who were the light of his life. Few things brought him greater happiness than spending time with his grandchildren, whose laughter and energy always lifted his spirits. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletis Wayne “Pete” Sayre and Hazel Sayre, as well as his sisters, Eva Burgess and Delores Williams.


Wayne will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his deep love for this family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved deeply.


There will be a visitation at Waybright Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 6-8p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 2p.m. with visitation from 1p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery in Evans, WV.
