Clifford Rolland Winter

Rolland Winter Rolland Winter, 85, of Given, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Hubbard House in Charleston following a brief illness. He was born May 4, 1927 in Jackson County, son of the late Rondus and Edith Simmons Winter. He was a lifelong farmer and, along with his father, operated Winter's Exxon in Fairplain until shortly after his father's death when he elected to close the station. Surviving: His wife of 65 years, Sarah Marmett Winter; Daughters, Dianne Slaughter (Greg) of Ripley, Shirley Parker (Ron) of Ripley and Sharon Winter of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; He also leaves five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Rolland was preceded in death by a brother, Rehan Winter. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Winter will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with John Gunther officiating.
