Clifford Rolland Winter

Rolland Winter Rolland Winter, 85, of Given, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Hubbard House in Charleston following a brief illness. He was born May 4, 1927 in Jackson County, son of the late Rondus and Edith Simmons Winter. He was a lifelong farmer and, along with his father, operated Winter's Exxon in Fairplain until shortly after his father's death when he elected to close the station. Surviving: His wife of 65 years, Sarah Marmett Winter; Daughters, Dianne Slaughter (Greg) of Ripley, Shirley Parker (Ron) of Ripley and Sharon Winter of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; He also leaves five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Rolland was preceded in death by a brother, Rehan Winter. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Winter will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with John Gunther officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Fairview Cemetery, Given. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be left at www.waybrightfuneralhome.com.
