Curtis M. “Buck” Raines, 80 of Kenna, went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2025 while in Charleston General Hospital.
Buck was born April 20, 1944 in Kenna, son of the late William Daris and Dortholean Fields Raines. He was a born again Christian and attended the Hickory Grove Church in Kenna. He was a builder by trade and loved music, especially gospel and blue grass music, and was well known for singing with his family in many churches in Jackson County. Buck loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Diane Thomas Raines; his children, Kathy (Bill) Hamon and Curtis (Libby) Raines; adoptive nieces, Joann Stephens and Christina Deal; adoptive nephew, Scott (Lisa) Casto; sisters, Brenda (Mike) Nutter and Sue (Emory) Thomas; brother, Woody (Juanita) Raines; grandchildren, Hallie (Billy) Harpold, Curtis Allen Raines, Elizabeth (Daniel) Godbey and Hannah (Collin) Hill; great grandchildren Eli Raines, Bailey Godbey, Payton Godbey, Grayson Godbey, Jaxyn Harpold, Layla Hill, Remmington Raines and Ryker Raines and a great grandbaby on the way, Lillian Hill. Buck thought of all of his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant siblings, Larry and Darlene Raines.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Dana Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Raines Cemetery, Kenna. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
