Dale Leon Griffith, 86, of Sandyville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Dale was born on June 6, 1937 at Sandyville, a son of the late Lester Glenn and Eleanor (Kelbaugh) Griffith.
Dale retired from Century Aluminum after many years of service. Dale stayed very active by gardening and farming, as well as hunting and fishing and helping his children with all of their building needs. Dale was also involved with Boy Scouts, Ripley Masonic Lodge #16 A.F & A.M. and was a member of the Drift Run Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher and Lay Speaker. Most of all he loved all the time he got to spend with his family.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary (Brotherton) Griffith; children Rick Griffith (Patty), Terri Zirkle (Matt) and Dave Griffith (Annette); sister Delores Parsons; (Glenn); sisters-in-law Helen Oliver and Peg Griffith; grandchildren Kristin Griffith Dewees (Nathan), Cassie Griffith Mellert (Andy), Rebecca Griffith and Zane Griffith and one great-granddaughter Bentley Dale Mellert, who was the apple of his eye. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by brothers Donald and Vernon Griffith and a son-in-law Rick Easter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kanawha Hospice and caregivers Debbie Balis, Shelia Whytsell and Rose Poe for their care and compassion showed to Dale and the family.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 25th at the Drift Run Church, Sandyville with Pastor Dave Long officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will be in the Drift Run Cemetery.
