Darrell Tackett, 79, or Leroy was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at CAMC General Hospital following an extended illness. He was born June 26, 1940 in Kanawha County, a son of the late Howard and Ernie Horne Tackett. Darrell worked as a truck driver for State Construction and Stahlman’s and owned his own landscaping business, Four Seasons. But his passion in life was ministering to those in nursing homes all over Jackson County and beyond. He loved his family and grandchildren and in return was loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eva Jane Shaffer Tackett; children Susan Southall (Scott) of Cottageville, Rhonda Syner (Jerry) Syner of Sandyville, Melissa Ferrell (Jammie) of Poca, and Tanya Powers (Timothy) of Charleston; sister Dorothy Tackett of Ripley; brother Lawrence Tackett of Florida. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who he absolutely adored. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by twin brother Jarrell; brothers Arnold, Robert, and Delbert Tackett and sisters Pearl Casto, Louise Martin, and Catherine DeLong. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
