David Michael Jones

David Michael Jones, 65, of Spencer passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley following a sudden illness. He was born May 13, 1950 at Roane County, a son of the late Donald and Ethel Taylor Jones. He worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways for 22 years before retiring. After retirement he enjoyed farming and dog trading with his grandson. He was an avid reader and very religious, having read the Bible several times. He was also involved in the Mentor Program in Roane County. Survivors include his sons David Jones, Jr. (Jane) of Hurricane and Donald Jones (Tina) of Gay; Daughter Jessica Reaser (Scottie) of Ripley; Brothers John Jones of North Carolina and Melvin Jones of Spencer; Sisters Mildred Lane of Spencer, Mary Lou Siers (Jim) of Cross Lanes, and Sue Cuppet of Huntington; Brothers-in-law Bill Nicholes and George Mars; Grandchildren John Michael Jones, Kimberly Jones, Maria Shamblin, Crissia Tracy, Tara Tracy, Shane Sawyer, Joshua Reaser, Adam Reaser, Shawn Michael, Shannon Hall, and Matthew Michael; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews living throughout the world. He is also survived by special friends Clyde and Sandy Strickland, and their son Chad, and Dean Starcher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Wanda Nicholes, Betty Mars, and Marge West. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Danny Cummings officiating.
