David Keith Moore

David Keith Moore, 60, of Evans passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, December 16, 2019 He was born October 30, 1959 at Charleston, WV a son of Carol Sue Canterbury Moore and the late David Phillip Moore. He is survived by his wife Dianna Coon Moore; children Amy Moore and Kyle Moore (Jessilyn); Stepchildren Adrienne and Tyler Kelly; mother, Sue Moore; sisters Pam Moore (Steve) and Melissa DeFede (Brian); Grandchildren Payton Casto, Slevin Godwin, Bristol Godwin, Amsley Godwin, and Reid Godwin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. David was a 1977 graduate of Ripley High. He continued his education at WVU receiving a bachelors of arts in Political Science and Economics in 1981 and then a Doctorate of Juris Prudence in 1984 from the West Virginia University College of Law. He began his law career in the state tax department. He then worked as in-house counsel for Norfolk Southern Railroad in Bluefield. He would return to Jackson County in 1992 where he served as Prosecuting Attorney until the end of 2000. Where he would then enter into private practice on North Court St in Ripley. He will be remembered as being a big kid at heart and always enjoyed a good Archway molasses cookie. He enjoyed NASCAR races as well as WVU football and basketball and was a member of the Ripley and Cottageville Volunteer Fire Departments. Most of all he had a great love for his children and grandchildren. David will be remembered by family and friends as a gentle soul with the most giving of hearts. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral service will be 1p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor John Ellison officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
