David Kenneth Merritt

David Kenneth Merritt passed away March 20, 2023 after a short illness.

David was born April 27, 1968 in Ripley, WV to the late Ken Merritt and Mary Javins Merritt.

David is survived by brothers Tim (Cheryl), Dwayne, Mike (Sue Ann), Jeff and Brian. Also his sister Lenita (Greg). And step mother Linda. David is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly

David graduated Ripley High School in 1986 where he enjoyed many friends and participating on various sports teams. David was a champion dart thrower, winning many tournaments. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying most all sports and especially his Atlanta Braves, the Dallas Cowboys along with the WV Mountaineers and Marshall Thundering Herd. And of course, the Ripley Vikings. David enjoyed a good cigar along with good conversation.

David served in the United States Air Force and then as pharmacy technician. He previously resided in Phoenix Arizona and most recently he lived in Parkersburg WV.

A memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Military Rites will be rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
