David W. Shamblen Sr.

David (Big Dave) Wayne Shamblen Sr. 62 of Leroy, WV, passed away with his family by his side on January 8, 2022 following a long illness. He was born April 17, 1960 in Ripley, a son of the late Ofa and Opal Shamblen. David served in the United States Army as a unit supply specialist. He was a well known carpenter who enjoyed being a homebody, drinking his coffee and enjoying the view of where he grew up. David is survived by son David (Leighann) Shamblen Jr and grandchildren, Kate, Carter and Zander of Ravenswood; son Richard Wiseman and grandchildren Daniaia, Addison and Brantley of Elkview; daughter Sarah (Ricky) Mitchem and grandchildren Haleigh, Livi, Ben, Housron and Kataleya of Georgia; daughter Emily (Shayne) Belcher and grandchildren Lexi and Tyler also of Georgia. He also leaves behind a brother, Tim Shamblen along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and lots of friends who will miss him. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Tom and sister Wilma. In honoring his wishes he will be cremated and his family will have a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley is serving the family.
