Davie Belden Turner

Davie Belden Turner, 91, of Ripley passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. He was born March 3, 1927, at Harrison, WV a son of the late Raymond Lee and Alta Bessie Canfield Turner. Davie proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Submarine Service and obtained the rank of HA1C and PM2C. He later worked as a chemical operator for Union Carbide. He is survived by his sons Jonathan Turner (Teena) of Elkview and David Turner (Crystal) of Spencer; Brother Jerry E. Turner (Mildred) of Brook Park, OH; Grandchildren Adam Turner (Katherine) of Leesburg, VA and Patricia Slaughter (Cameron) of Charlotte, NC; Great-grandchildren Lucie, Andrew, and Robert Turner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Daphne Turner; Brothers Charles Ethmer and Jerryl Gene Turner and Sisters Edith Ray, Ethel Stover, and Giula Nutter. Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, May 25th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Herman Robinson and Rev. Matt Ash officiating, as well as lifelong friend, Pastor Charles Rhodes. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Following the funeral service Military Rites will be rendered by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Turner Cemetery at Harrison, Clay County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bible Ministry at Parchment Valley Baptist Church, 1883 Ripley Road, Ripley, WV 25271.
