Debra K Wells

October 28, 1962 — December 20, 2023

Debra K. Wells, 61, of Ravenswood, died Saturday, December 16, 2023. She was born on October 28, 1962 in Sandyville, WV, to the late Earl and Sharon Curry. Debbie was a graduate of Ripley High School. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her five children, but did work several years at the New Era Grocery—probably to get out of the house from her five children.

Debbie loved taking walks with her favorite child—her dog, Manny. Her pedometer would regularly register more steps in a single day than some people take in a month. How a pudgy chihuahua was able to keep up with her none of us will ever know.

Debbie loved having a good time with her family and friends. She was a regular fixture at the Ripley VFW Post 5401 and could often be seen dancing—not well, mind you, but dancing none the less.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Robert Wells, and her children: Jennifer Slater, and her husband Chad of Charleston; Judy Brunty, and her husband Dave of Ripley; Jodie Workman, and her husband Brandon of Ripley; James Wells of Ripley; and Jessica Wells of Sandyville. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Blake Workman, Madison Workman, Benjamin Slater, Kyle Brunty, Hailey Workman, Emma Slater, and Addison Workman. Her sisters, Sherry Curry-Snyder, with her husband Steve of Sandyville, and Donna Donohew, with her husband Ben of Racine, Ohio, along with nieces and nephews, also survive her. Manny, the little dog with a million miles on his odometer, also survives to cherish her memory.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life by gathering to remember her on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Waybright’s Funeral Home in Ripley from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
