Dellie Wallen

Dellie Elaine Wallen, 86, of Ripley passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Jackson General Hosptial following a short illness. She was born April 9, 1930 in Logan County, WV a daughter of the late Dennie and Alie Nelson Lester. She was a homemaker and babysat numerous children throughout her life. She was involved in the South Hills CEO Club, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed quilting, chicken scratch and ceramics, as well as other crafts. She was a member of the Ripley Church of the Nazarene for 25 years and more recently was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons Dennis Wallen (Rose) of Ripley and Dallas Wallen (Carolyn) of Evans; Grandsons Richard Wallen (Dara), Bryan Wallen (Amy), David Wallen, Matthew Wallen (Karee), and Marc Wallen; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous other who called her MawMaw Dellie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Therman "Lefty" Wallen. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Therman "Buster" Lester, Sherman Lester, Virginia Lester, Dennie "Happy" Lester, Norwood "Woody" Lester, Pickford McNeeley, Hazel Nichols, Charles "Pee Wee" Lester, and her twin brother Dillard Lester. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Friends may call on the family Friday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.
