Delores Jean Barnett

Delores Jean Barnett, 78, formerly of Given, WV passed away October 2, 2017 following a long illness. She was born August 28, 1939 in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Edward and Zelma Lester. She spent the last few years of her life under the loving, gracious care of her eldest daughter Terry Cottrell of Williamston, SC. She retired from Verizon Communications. She loved to garden, cook, and all things Elvis. She loved to travel and took many trips with her beloved sister, Robin Gray, her much loved sister-in-law, Ann Lester, and her very special cousin Joyce Beller. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Clayton Barnett; Son Allen Barnett; Brothers Steve and Mike Lester; Great-granchildren Micah Cottrell and Chase Cottrell. She is survived by her daughters Terry Cottrell (Jeff) of Williamston, SC, Diane Ingraham (Ralph) of Ripley, Mendy Casto of Charleston, Peggy Smith (Landy) of Pelzer, SC, and Jamie Jeffries (Jason) of Gay; Sister Robin Gray; Brothers Tommy and Ronnie Lester. 14 grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In honoring her wishes Delores was cremated and a private graveside service will be held at the Barnett Cemetery at Rockcastle at a later date.
