Deloris J. Rutter

Deloris June Rutter, 79, of Gay, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Jackson General Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born on June 16, 1934 at Clendenin WV, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Rene Short Overbaugh. She was a lifelong homemaker and Christian whose passion was her children, grandchildren and great-grandcchildren. She loved to cook, enjoyed life and, earlier in her life, worked in the service of those in need in the nursing field as what today would be considered an LPN. Prior to her retirement she worked 16 years at Eldercare as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Surviving: Her husband of 55 years, Charles Rutter of Gay; Sons, Elbert Eugene Beaver (Joann) of Ravenswood, Everett Wayne Beaver (Pam) of Charleston and Matt Rutter (Diana) of Gay; Daughters, Rose Rutter of Gay, Tammy Parsons (Joe) of Kenna and Laurie Walker (John) of Bluffton, Ohio; Brothers, Charles Overbaugh of Marmet, Walter Overbaugh of Angola, Indianna, Clifford "Skip" Overbaugh of Quincy, WV and Jack Overbaugh of Nitro; Ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with one more on the way). In addition to her parents, Deloris was preceded in death by her first husband, Carnis Beaver, a son, Charles A. Rutter and siblings Mickey, Lucille and Rufus Overbaugh, Della and Marie Drake and Shirley Farren. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Gaal as well as the nurses and staff at Jackson General Hospital for the compassion and care shown during Deloris' last hours. Your love and kindness will forever be remembered. A celebration of the life of Deloris will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor David Fields officiating.
