Pastor Dennis George Freshour, 70, of Kenna received his ultimate healing and entered his heavenly home on November 29, 2024. He was born March 23, 1954, to Fredrick & Dollie Freshour, of Kenna, WV and is preceded in death by his father, Fred Freshour and his parents-in-law Edward and Sue Casto.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Meike Casto Freshour; his children Brandy (Rob) Whittington, Lesley (Jason) Roush, and Steven (Kelley) Freshour; grandchildren Katherine, William, and Grace Whittington, Julia, Lauren, Joshua, Zachary, Anna, and Shaumba Roush, Noah and Isabella Freshour; and great-grandson Brooks Riffle. He is also survived by his mother Dollie Belle Freshour Parsons; siblings Irene (Bill) Sheaffer, Juanita (Woody) Raines, and Keith (Sally) Freshour; sisters-in-law Robin (Lymon) Anderson and Donna (Kerry) Hinzman; and many nieces and nephews.
George was the pastor at Christian Fellowship Church in Kenna for the past 30 years. He dedicated his life to service to God, to his family, and to his church family. His anthem was “Jesus Saves,” and he would tell all who would listen of His goodness.
George was a 1972 graduate of Ripley High School. He worked construction for many years eventually owning his own mining reclamation business. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming. George was known for his friendly and fun-loving personality. He never met a stranger. His crowning achievement was his grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
The funeral service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Waybright Funeral Home with ministers Tim Birthisel and Rob Whittington officiating. Burial will follow at the Plainview Cemetery in Kenna. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm of Friday, December 6th and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family welcomes flowers. However, for those that would like to give a donation, the family suggests giving a random gift or performing a random act of kindness for someone in need.
The family would like to thank the many friends and loved ones that lifted George and the entire family up in their prayers. The family wishes to thank the staff at Thomas Memorial Hospital and the Charleston Hospice House for providing excellent care and kindness during George’s illness.
