Dessel May Pursley

Dessel May (Lovell) Pursley of Mt. Eaton, OH formerly of Jackson County, WV passed away on June 4, 2018 at her home following a long illness. Dessel was born May 20, 1934 in Roane County, WV. She was the daughter of the late Thurman and Vista (Stump) Lovell of Reedy, WV. She graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, WV and worked at the Sweater Factory until she got married and was a homemaker and helped her husband Dale with the dairy farm. Dessel was a devout christian and attended the West Lebanon United Methodist Church. She lived in Mt Eaton for 48 years and made many wonderful friends. In addition to her parents and husband of 61 years, Dale Pursley, she was preceded in death by her sister, Millie Jean Lovell; and her two sons, Jimmy and David Pursley. She is survived by her two sisters, Dorthy McCauley of Ravenswood, WV and Libby (Charles) Eagle of Leroy, WV; nieces and nephews, Debbie Caldon, Al (Stephanie) Eagle, Doug (Debbie) McCauley, Gary (Nancy) McCauley; and many other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 6, from 6-8 pm. At the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, OH and at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley, WV on Thursday June 7, from 12-2 pm followed by a funeral service at 2 pm with Ruthann Bosley, pastor of West Lebanon UM Church. Interment will follow at Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr., Green, OH 44685.
