Devon L. Hinzman

October 29, 1936 — August 19, 2024

Devon Landon Hinzman, 87 of Sandyville, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on August 19, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Devon was born October 29,1936 in Sandyville, WV, son of the late Ross and Bernice Coen Hinzman. He was born and lived out his life on the family farm where he loved farming, running his tractor and raising cattle. He learned farming with horses and work ethics from his father and as time went by taught his father how to farm using a tractor. Devon was a kind, generous and well-respected man who loved his family and was always ready to help anyone in need. He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was very proud that his family kept the Lord center in their lives and his family produced many pastors including his grandfather Isaac, brother Don, son David, and grandson Brandon. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Church and enjoyed singing and going to revivals. Devon retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 30 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Workers #5668.

He is survived by his loving wife Connie Hinzman; sons, David (Lisa), Tim (Pam), Rick (Anita), Mark (Spring), James and Gerald (Jessica); daughters, Susan (Tim) Walters, Sharon (Jeff) Derenberger; 29 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Devon was a loving dad and husband, grandpa and great grandpa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Louise Hinzman; brothers Dale, Bud, Don and Sonny Hinzman and infant brother Doyle; sisters Geraldine Posten, Coleen Scarbrough, Crystal Miller, Dola White and Mary Patterson.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Enoch Pursley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call on the family from 5 to 8 pm Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the funeral home.
